Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr Eyes £73M Move for Arsenal Star Amid Liverpool’s Diaz Unavailability
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr Pursues Arsenal Winger Gabriel Martinelli in £73 Million Deal
Al-Nassr has reportedly shifted its focus to acquiring Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli after Liverpool clarified that Luis Diaz is not available for transfer. The Saudi club aims to find a replacement for Jhon Duran, who is expected to join Fenerbahçe on loan, as part of their summer transfer plans.
Duran, who joined Al-Nassr in January for £64.5 million after netting 20 goals over 18 months, is now predicted to spend the upcoming season with Istanbul-based club. Meanwhile, Diaz was the preferred target, but Liverpool has no intention of selling their star winger.
Sources suggest Al-Nassr is preparing a substantial bid of €85 million (£73 million) for Martinelli, although Arsenal has not shown an interest in selling the Brazilian international this summer. A deal at that price would surpass Arsenal’s previous record sale—the £35 million transfer of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool in 2017.
Since joining Arsenal in 2019 for around £6 million, Martinelli has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s squad, scoring 51 goals and providing 29 assists in 225 appearances. Despite his impressive contributions, some fans have called for additional options on the left wing. Arsenal has been linked with other talents like Rodrygo from Real Madrid and Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, to strengthen their squad.
The transfer interest highlights Al-Nassr’s ambition to bolster their squad with top talent from European clubs, aiming to challenge domestically and internationally in the upcoming season.
