While traveling to Europe, Caperna locked her Instagram profile following a surge of malicious comments. Screenshots reveal threatening messages, with one individual expressing hopes for her suffering and implying knowledge of her whereabouts and her child’s routines.

In an interview, Caperna emphasized her decision to share the abuse, highlighting how extreme and pervasive online hate has become. She criticized the normalization of threats and slurs on social media, calling them unacceptable and emphasizing the importance of boundaries and respectful dialogue around reality TV and celebrity culture.

Caperna shared some of the vile messages she received on her podcast, “This Side of the Hill,” where her co-host read some of the most disturbing comments. Many messages targeted her appearance, her family, and even researched her relatives, with some wishing her harm and death.

She expressed concern about the seemingly normal presence of such hatred and questioned whether people she encounters daily might harbor similar sentiments secretly. She also hinted that one of her former friends on the show was involved in engaging with online trolls, adding to her disappointment.

Despite the negativity, she remains committed to advocating for healthier online interactions, emphasizing that the threats are far from normal and that she refuses to accept such behavior as part of her reality.
