Harvey Weinstein’s Shocking Retrial Verdict Revealed After Intense Jury Deliberation!
Harvey Weinstein was convicted in his Manhattan sexual assault retrial after five days of jury deliberation. The jury, composed of seven women and five men, unanimously found him guilty on one of three charges.
He was acquitted of an additional sexual assault charge, and the jury has not yet reached a verdict on a rape charge. Reports indicated high tension among jurors during deliberations, with some expressing frustration and requesting dismissal, though the judge declined.
Juror No. 7, a 25-year-old, voiced concerns about jury gossip and requested to be dismissed, but was advised to remain by the judge. Weinstein’s defense sought a mistrial over this dispute, which was rejected.
The jury showed fatigue, requesting coffee during long deliberations. Weinstein’s retrial started on April 15, while he continues to battle cancer.
A new accuser, Kaja Sokola, a former model, claimed Weinstein molested her at 16 and, years later, forced oral sex in 2006 in a Manhattan hotel. She previously settled against him, and his retrial relates to the 2006 incident.
Weinstein, who pleaded not guilty, was originally sentenced to 23 years in 2020, but this sentence was overturned in April 2024 by the New York Court of Appeals. The court deemed certain prior bad acts evidence inadmissible, affecting the case.
During the retrial, another allegation emerged from Kaja Sokola, who said Weinstein assaulted her in 1998 and again in 2006, a case he denies. She was compensated in prior settlements.
Weinstein is also serving a separate sentence in Los Angeles for other sexual offenses, which he is appealing.
Defense attorneys claimed that some accusers exploited their youth, and suggested Weinstein was the victim of manipulation. Weinstein has maintained his innocence, denying all charges.
In addition to his New York case, Weinstein was sentenced to 16 years in California in 2023, which he is also appealing.
