Dez Bryant Criticized Over Diddy Verdict Comments

Dez Bryant Sparks Controversy with Comments on Cassie Ventura Amid Diddy’s Trial

Retired NFL player Dez Bryant has attracted criticism for his outspoken remarks about Cassie Ventura in relation to her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent federal trial.

Following Combs’ conviction on charges of transporting individuals for prostitution, although acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering, Bryant posted on social media dismissing Ventura’s claims. He stated, “Cassie wasn’t no victim… not even close,” referencing footage where she was seen on camera being physically assaulted by Combs in 2016.

Many commenters criticized Bryant, pointing out his own past legal issues, including an arrest for assaulting his mother in 2012. One user expressed: “Many blasted the former NFL star for being an ‘idiot,’ a ‘dork,’ a ‘sick f–k’ and a ‘piece of s–t.'”

Cassie Ventura’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, released a statement emphasizing her bravery in coming forward. He highlighted her role in seeking justice and praised her strength, noting, “Her indelible mark on the entertainment industry and her fight for justice will be remembered.”

Wigdor further explained that Ventura initiated the civil case against Combs in November 2023, which led to a settlement of $20 million a day after her civil complaint was filed. While the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking beyond a reasonable doubt, they found enough evidence to convict him of transportation for prostitution, potentially resulting in a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. He is scheduled for sentencing on October 3 and will remain incarcerated until then.

Outside the courtroom, Ventura’s legal team expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating she is “in a good place” and pleased with Combs facing accountability for his alleged crimes.
