Legendary Teen Idol and Community Hero Bobby Sherman Passes Away at 81

Known for his charming boyish looks and memorable hits, Bobby Sherman, born Robert Kabat Sherman Jr., died peacefully at his Encino home on June 24, 2025. He was 81 years old. His wife, Brigette Poublon Sherman, and close friend John Stamos shared that his passing followed a brave battle with stage 4 cancer.

Sherman’s rise to fame started in the mid-1960s with his appearance on ABC’s “Shindig!”, where his charismatic presence quickly captivated audiences. He became a teen idol, appearing on merchandise and magazine covers, with his 1969 hit “Little Woman” reaching number three on the Billboard charts. His string of chart-topping singles, including “La La La” and “Julie, Do Ya Love Me,” defined the bubblegum pop era.

On television, Sherman starred as Jeremy Bolt in “Here Come the Brides” (1968-1970), solidifying his place in pop culture. His infectious smile and genuine personality earned him a spot among the top teen idols, recognized by TV Guide as one of the “25 Greatest Teen Idols.”

Beyond entertainment, Sherman dedicated himself to public service. In the 1970s, he transitioned to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and served as a reserve police officer in Los Angeles and San Bernardino. He passionately trained new recruits and donated his salary to community initiatives.

He also co-founded a children’s foundation in Ghana, focusing on providing education and nutrition to underserved youth. His acts of kindness and service made him a true hero to many.

Throughout his life, Sherman maintained a strong bond with fans. Even in his final days, Brigette read heartfelt letters aloud, illustrating their deep 29-year marriage filled with love and mutual support. He is survived by Brigette, their two sons, Tyler and Christopher, and six grandchildren.
