He had been battling throat and stomach cancer for several years prior to his passing.

Longtime friend Leigh J. McCloskey shared a heartfelt tribute, describing Marinelli as a passionate storyteller, a caring friend, and a deeply philosophical person. He mourned the loss but also celebrated Marinelli’s impactful life and friendship.

Born on January 21, 1957, in Meriden, Connecticut, Marinelli moved to California at age four. After attending high school in Los Angeles and Nevada, he studied at Loyola Marymount University and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

He balanced a diverse acting career with a job as a carpenter, appearing in popular series such as “Cagney & Lacey,” “Paper Dolls,” “Hill Street Blues,” and “L.A. Law.” He notably played mobster Bunny Tagliatti in “Santa Barbara” from 1988 to 1990 and later portrayed other recurring characters on daytime television.
