Kevin Durant’s Trade Could Reach 7 Teams—A Record Breaker!

Kevin Durant Trade to Houston Rockets Gets More Complex

The potential trade involving Kevin Durant moving to the Houston Rockets is becoming even more complicated. According to The Athletic, this deal now involves up to seven teams, including the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves—potentially setting a new league record for the most teams involved in a single trade.

As of now, no official agreement has been finalized, and the details are still being negotiated. The trade, if it goes through, could surpass last summer’s record when the Dallas Mavericks acquired Klay Thompson in a six-team deal. However, sources indicate that most parts of this complex swap have already been agreed upon and announced, with little recent activity or new developments.

Under the proposed terms, the Phoenix Suns would send Durant to the Rockets in exchange for players including Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and multiple draft picks. Only Daeqwon Plowden, last season’s NBA player, is actively involved in the deal from this year’s draft. Most other components stem from prior negotiations during the NBA Draft period.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the formation of this expanded seven-team trade was always on the table, with the only recent addition being the Atlanta Hawks, who are attempting to send Clint Capela to Houston via a sign-and-trade agreement.

Finalizing trades isn’t possible until July 6, when free agency begins, but the negotiation process is underway since Monday. While this multi-team deal will become a notable point of NBA trivia, at its core, it’s just another example of the league’s intricate business dealings.
