Verdict Reached in Sex-Trafficking Trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs

A federal jury in Manhattan has delivered its final decision in the high-profile sex-trafficking case against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The jury, composed of eight men and four women, began their deliberations on June 30 and later notified the court that they had reached a verdict. The decision will be announced in the Manhattan federal courtroom.

Combs, aged 55, faces multiple serious charges, including sex trafficking, transportation for prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy— a charge often associated with organized crime. A conviction on any of the sex-trafficking counts could result in a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years, with each prostitution-related charge carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years.

The trial spanned seven weeks, during which prosecutors called 34 witnesses, including star witness Cassie Ventura. Ventura detailed her tumultuous 10-year relationship with Combs, alleging repeated physical abuse and forced “freak-offs.” Jurors were shown disturbing surveillance footage from 2016, depicting Combs assaulting Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel, which he allegedly sought to hide by bribing security personnel.

Additional testimony implicated Combs in other criminal acts, such as setting Kid Cudi’s Porsche on fire and breaking into his home amidst jealousy over the rapper’s relationship with Ventura. Witnesses also claimed Combs solicited others, including his employees, to buy drugs and fly them between California and Miami for his use.

Prosecutors accused Combs of orchestrating “freak-offs,” intense, often drug-fueled sexual sessions where women were made to sleep with male prostitutes, sometimes for days. Evidence indicated Combs directed participants to coat themselves in baby oil while he watched, filmed, and pleasured himself. Authorities reportedly seized over a thousand bottles of baby oil from his properties.

Ventura, an R&B singer signed to Combs’ label, openly discussed her abusive relationship during the trial and revealed a civil settlement she reached with him. The case remains ongoing, with Combs maintaining his innocence and his legal team arguing that the prosecution has failed to meet their burden of proof.

He has been detained in Brooklyn since September 2024 and appeared in court throughout the proceedings, supported by family members. If convicted of the top charges, Combs could face life imprisonment.
