Diddy Denied Bail, Will Stay in Prison Until Sentencing

Sean “Diddy” Combs Denied Bail Following Guilty Verdict

Sean “Diddy” Combs was refused bail after being convicted of transporting individuals for the purpose of engaging in prostitution. Despite his lawyer’s plea for immediate release, the judge ordered him to remain in custody while awaiting sentencing.

Judge Arun Subramanian explained that since the bail had been denied earlier in the trial, there was no justification to change that decision. The judge pointed to evidence of violence and other illegal activities observed after raids on Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles, indicating a disregard for legal processes and a propensity for violence.

The judge scheduled sentencing for October 3 at 10 a.m. ET, but indicated it might be accelerated if the defense requests.

During the trial in Manhattan federal court, a jury found Combs not guilty of more serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking. The 55-year-old artist reacted by raising his fists and kneeling in apparent prayer after the verdict. His supporters cheered as he acknowledged the crowd and blew kisses.

His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, requested his release on a bond worth $1 million, claiming his family could post it immediately. The judge set a deadline for arguments on bail support or opposition, but did not issue a ruling immediately.

Combs faces a maximum of 20 years in prison for two counts related to knowingly transporting individuals across borders or state lines for prostitution. He previously faced extensive investigations, including raids on his properties, where authorities found thousands of bottles of lubricants and firearms.

The trial, which began on May 5, saw testimony from Ventura, his ex-girlfriend for a decade, who accused him during her pregnancy of engaging in sexual activities with escorts in his presence. Her attorney praised her “courage” for coming forward.

Combs’ legal situation continues, with nearly 80 civil lawsuits alleging sexual and physical abuse. His case highlights ongoing issues of justice and survivor advocacy within the entertainment industry.
