Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Guilty on Prostitution Charges, Acquitted of Sex Trafficking

Sean “Diddy” Combs Found Guilty on Transportation to Engage in Prostitution

A federal jury has convicted Sean “Diddy” Combs of transporting women for prostitution but cleared him of sex trafficking and racketeering charges in a highly publicized trial.

The jury, composed of eight men and four women, delivered a unanimous verdict around 9:52 a.m. ET, with Combs and his family present in Manhattan federal court to hear the decision.

This verdict follows less than a day after the jury announced they had reached a partial agreement on some counts but were deadlocked on the racketeering conspiracy charge, which involves the RICO statute often used against organized crime.

Initially, Combs faced serious charges, including sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for prostitution, with a potential life sentence. Prosecutors, however, dropped several charges a day before closing arguments, including attempted kidnapping and arson.

The investigation included raids on his properties in Miami and Los Angeles, where authorities discovered weapons and large quantities of lubricants. Combs was held without bail at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center throughout the trial, which began in May.

The trial garnered significant attention, despite being untelevised, due to live updates and testimony involving notable celebrities. His ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who was eight months pregnant during her testimony, accused him of emotional, verbal, and physical abuse, and recounted participation in “Freak-Offs” involving sex with escorts observed by Combs.

Other testimonies included rapper Kid Cudi, who alleged that Combs broke into his house and set his car on fire in a fit of jealousy from a past relationship with Ventura.

Combs has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to all charges. His children have supported him during the trial, while some family members showed emotional reactions upon its conclusion.

This verdict marks a significant chapter in a case that has attracted widespread media coverage over the past weeks.
