Anna Wintour Makes First Public Appearance After Stepping Down as Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief

Anna Wintour, the renowned fashion icon, debuted publicly for the first time since resigning as Vogue’s editor-in-chief last week. She attended Marc Jacobs’ fall 2025 show in New York City, exuding her signature glamorous style.

Wintour appeared in a chic floral ensemble, pairing a long-sleeved top with a matching skirt, complemented by colorful accessories and her iconic bob hairstyle. She accessorized with her usual colorful gem necklaces and yellow sandals, completing her look with classic sunglasses and subtle makeup.

Wintour arrived at the show accompanied by Michael Ariano, Marc Jacobs’ publicist. In the front row, she was seated with models Bijou Phillips and Valentina Ferrer, socialite Nicky Hilton, and Jacobs’ husband, Char Defrancesco. She appeared engaged in conversations, notably exchanging words with Defrancesco.

Last Thursday, Wintour announced her decision to step down after nearly four decades leading Vogue. While she will remain involved as chief content officer for Condé Nast and Vogue’s global editorial director, a new head of editorial at Vogue will take over her role in guiding the magazine’s daily operations across platforms.

Despite stepping down, Wintour plans to continue her involvement in major fashion events like the Met Gala.

Wintour expressed her ongoing commitment to key projects, including overseeing the Met Gala and Vogue World, emphasizing her intention to remain active in the fashion and cultural scene. She highlighted her continued interest in shaping future creative endeavors and maintaining her roles as a fashion and cultural influencer.

Remarkably, she chose Marc Jacobs’ show as her first public appearance since her announcement, reaffirming her long-standing relationship with the designer. Last fall, she named Jacobs the first US Vogue guest editor for its December 2024 issue, ahead of the presidential election, aiming to bring a fresh perspective and energy to the magazine.

Reflecting on the election context, Wintour shared her thoughts on stepping back momentarily, indicating that her focus remains on her passions and her ongoing influence within the industry.
