Arsenal Confirm Kepa Arrizabalaga Signing from Chelsea After Seven Years
Arsenal Signs Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea
The Gunners have officially announced the acquisition of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. The 30-year-old has recently been on loan at Real Madrid and Bournemouth, and he will now compete with David Raya for the starting goalkeeper role.
Kepa’s departure from Stamford Bridge marks the end of a seven-year spell since his record-breaking £72 million transfer from Athletic Bilbao, a fee that once set a world record for a goalkeeper.
Expressing his excitement, Kepa stated on the club’s website: “I’m really happy to be here and eager to see what the future holds. The ambition I’ve seen at this club, alongside discussions with Mikel Arteta and Inaki Cana, shows how much they want to win. I believe we are close to achieving great things together.”
Mikel Arteta welcomed Kepa to the squad, highlighting his experience and hunger to succeed: “We are thrilled to bring Kepa onboard. Having faced him several times in recent seasons, I know what he offers. He brings valuable experience, and his dedication will elevate our team. I already know some of his teammates, and we look forward to his contributions.”
