Where’s Tulsi Gabbard? Intelligence Director MIA During Critical Moments — Insiders Say She’s Been ‘Wrong on the Big Stuff’
Details Emerge on Key Figures During Iran Nuclear Facilities Strike
The Pentagon announced that the recent missile strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities resulted from over 15 years of intelligence gathering. However, Tulsi Gabbard, the former Democratic congresswoman and current intelligence director, was notably absent from critical moments surrounding the operation.
Gabbard, who has previously voiced opposition to U.S. military interventions in the Middle East, did not attend an important congressional briefing on the strike, where CIA Director John Ratcliffe provided classified details to lawmakers. This absence has fueled speculation about her standing within the administration, especially as Ratcliffe’s profile has risen.
She was also excluded from a June 8 security meeting at Camp David, where President Trump and top officials discussed plans related to Iran. Shortly afterward, she released a video warning about the dangers of nuclear war, which was seen as a critique of the early preemptive approach favored by some officials.
Despite her absence from certain briefings, Gabbard had been part of the senior leadership present during the Saturday operation. Nonetheless, some insiders suggest her influence could diminish as intelligence Chief Ratcliffe gains more authority. Legislation proposed by Senate Intelligence Chairman Tom Cotton aims to significantly reduce her staff by nearly half.
President Trump had publicly disagreed with Gabbard’s assessment that Iran might not be close to developing nuclear weapons, suggesting instead that Iran was nearing that capability. Gabbard, who endorsed Trump in 2020 over foreign policy disagreements, previously promoted anti-war messages and opposes regime change efforts abroad.
Despite speculation about internal tensions, sources indicate that Gabbard remains a valued member of the team, and no official reports suggest she faces imminent removal from her position.
