Washington Post Reporter Caught in Child Porn Scandal — Shocking Details Unveiled!
Journalist Arrested on Child Pornography Charges
A veteran journalist associated with a major news outlet was detained following a police investigation that uncovered illegal material on his work device. Authorities announced that Thomas Pham LeGro, 48, was taken into custody after FBI agents raided his residence in Washington, DC.
During the search, agents found a folder on LeGro’s professional laptop containing 11 videos depicting child sexual abuse. Additionally, they discovered fragments of a damaged hard drive outside the room where the laptop was stored. The investigation also linked LeGro to multiple E-Gold accounts in 2005 and 2006, a digital payment service previously accused of facilitating money laundering for child pornography operations.
LeGro, who has been with the Washington Post for over 18 years and was part of the team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2017 for coverage of Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, appeared in court and is scheduled for a detention hearing soon. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
The FBI affidavit details the monitoring of LeGro’s internet activity, which led to the discovery of the illicit videos. LeGro’s professional biography notes his transition from working in sports reporting to investigative journalism, with stints at PBS NewsHour before rejoining the Post.
The publication indicated that LeGro has been placed on leave as the investigation continues. Authorities emphasize the seriousness of the allegations against him as they proceed with further legal actions.
