Senate Republicans Introduce Nearly 1,000-Page Bill Amid Midnight Release

In the early hours, Senate Republicans unveiled a dense 940-page bill, which they are actively modifying. Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized the move on social media, stating, “Senate Republicans dropped a nearly 1,000-page ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ in the DEAD OF THE NIGHT. And they want to vote on it TODAY. Trump is pushing through a bill that cuts healthcare, closes hospitals, and hikes grocery and utility costs to benefit billionaires.”

Concerns about the bill’s impact are echoed by experts. Sharon Parrott, president of the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, emphasized the bill’s potential harm, noting, “Despite the concealment, the truth is clear — if enacted, this bill will hurt people across all states. Senators supporting it will be responsible for its consequences.”

She explained that the legislation would likely strip health coverage from approximately 16 million individuals and increase costs for many more by imposing deep cuts to Medicaid and ACA marketplace coverage, as well as failing to extend enhanced premium tax credits. These changes could lead to loss of vital medical services, rise in medical debt, and worsening health outcomes. The bill threatens to cause avoidable deaths, increased uncompensated care, and the closure of rural hospitals.
