Just a few days prior, Burrell shared her final Instagram post on June 12, featuring a cheerful selfie with Elizabeth Eaton Rosenthal, affectionately known as The Green Lady, an iconic Brooklyn personality. In the caption, Burrell expressed her excitement at running into Rosenthal and commented on her delightful personality.

Rosenthal responded to Burrell’s post with warm comments, inviting her to visit her garden and pick figs when ripe, expressing her love and admiration. She further shared her hope to see Burrell again, emphasizing the genuine connection they shared.

Family members confirmed her passing, describing her as a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend whose radiant smile brightened every room. They expressed that her warmth and love touched countless lives, and although she is no longer with us, her spirit remains eternal.

Burrell gained fame through her appearances on several TV shows, including Iron Chef America, Chef Wanted, Chopped, and Worst Cooks in America. She also participated in the series House of Knives in 2025. Throughout her career, she authored two cookbooks: the New York Times bestseller Cook Like a Rock Star (2011) and Own Your Kitchen: Recipes to Inspire and Empower (2013).
