Ange Postecoglou Linked to Surprising New Role Weeks After Tottenham Sack

Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly being considered for a new position with Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC, just weeks after his departure from Tottenham Hotspur. The club is contemplating making an approach to the Australian coach to take over from current head coach Steve Cherundolo.

Postecoglou was dismissed shortly after leading Spurs to UEFA Europa League victory by beating Manchester United in the final. Despite this trophy success, the club’s disappointing 17th-place finish in the Premier League led to his exit. Tottenham then turned to Thomas Frank of Brentford as their new managerial candidate.

The American club could see Postecoglou as a suitable replacement for Cherundolo, who is expected to leave LAFC at the end of the ongoing MLS season. Cherundolo, a former Bundesliga player with Hannover, is widely believed to be stepping down as LAFC prepares for the conclusion of its campaign.

Ange Postecoglou was dismissed from Spurs despite winning the Europa League last season.

Olivier Giroud is currently a player for LAFC, participating in the Club World Cup.

Steve Cherundolo will leave his role as LAFC head coach at the end of the season.

The MLS regular season ends in October, and LAFC, currently in playoff position, might consider Postecoglou once their postseason run concludes. The club recently participated in the Club World Cup, drawing with Flamengo but losing to Chelsea and ES Tunis.

Postecoglou’s name has been linked to various jobs since leaving Tottenham, including a recent report suggesting he is also being considered by Saudi Pro League side Ahl Ahl.
