18-Year-Old Argentine Footballer Dies During Knee Surgery as Club Mourns

Camilo Nuin, an Argentine footballer aged 18, tragically passed away during a knee operation. The young player, who was part of San Telmo, was undergoing a routine procedure to treat meniscal and cruciate ligament injuries. The surgery aimed to restore joint stability but resulted in his sudden death.

He had previously developed his skills through youth academies at Boca Juniors and Independiente before joining San Telmo in 2022. His club confirmed his demise and announced that they would remain closed for a day of mourning, expressing deep sadness over the loss of their player.

San Telmo issued a statement: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Camilo Ernesto Nuin, a member of our youth and reserve teams, during surgery today. Our club will be closed as a sign of respect, and we stand with his family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time.”

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) also responded to the tragedy. AFA President Claudio Tapia described the news as “shaking the entire football world” and extended condolences to Nuin’s family, emphasizing the loss felt across the football community.
