President Trump Criticizes New York City Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani After Primary Victory

Following the unexpected win of socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani in the New York Democratic mayoral primary, former President Trump voiced strong disapproval. He accused Mamdani of advocating radical communist policies and criticized the Democratic Party for nominating him.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Mamdani as a “100% Communist Lunatic” and remarked, “Radical Lefties have gone too far.” He also scrutinized Mamdani’s appearance and speaking voice, stating, “He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating,” and claimed he is not very intelligent. Trump further criticized the support Mamdani received, including from prominent Democratic figures.

Trump sarcastically suggested that Democrats should nominate less capable candidates to improve their chances nationally, saying, “The Democrats should nominate Low IQ Candidate, Jasmine Crockett, for President, and AOC+3 should be Vice President and Cabinet members—then our country would be really SCREWED.”

Mamdani, a Queens state assemblyman, defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who conceded the race after trailing significantly in votes. While some leaders, including Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, praised Mamdani’s campaign and expressed anticipation of future meetings, others within the party voiced concerns.

Long Island Representative Tom Suozzi warned that Mamdani is “too extreme” for New York City, citing his platform, which includes unfeasible promises and higher taxes. Mamdani has also called for defunding the police and faced criticism for antisemitic comments, raising alarms amid rising antisemitism.

The primary results have set the stage for a contentious mayoral race, with Mamdani’s political stance sparking division among local and national politicians.
