Hiker Rescued After Falling from Tree and Lost in Washington Woods for 7 Days!
Hiker Rescued After Nearly a Week Lost in Washington Woods
A hiker who had been stranded in the forests of Washington for almost six days was finally rescued after his calls for help were heard by a local tribal member. The individual had fallen from a tree and wandered aimlessly for several days before being found.
Early Saturday morning, around 12:30 a.m., a tribal member in Suquamish heard the distressed voice of the man and promptly alerted authorities. A search effort was launched involving local rescue teams, Kitsap Search Dogs, Olympic Mountain Rescue, and the Suquamish Tribal Police.
Upon arrival, a sheriff’s deputy also heard the faint crying for help, revealing that the man had fallen from a tree while attempting to take a shortcut through the woods. The rescue team worked tirelessly for nearly six hours before locating him around 7:00 a.m. They carried him out on a stretcher and transported him to a medical facility for treatment.
The unidentified hiker explained that he had been wandering and lost in the forest for four or five days. He recounted that he fell from a tree while attempting to take a shortcut. He also told rescuers that he was initially disoriented after being dropped off at the start of a road, which led to him wandering the woods until he was heard and rescued.
The rescue effort concluded with the man being transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. His current condition remains unspecified. This incident is part of a series of recent survival stories, including a woman in Arizona who survived three days in the desert after falling into a canyon, and a Brazilian woman who fell into an active volcano crater in Indonesia but was sadly found dead after days of being missing.
