Barcelona Announces Return to Nou Camp Amid £1.25bn Renovation Delays — Shocking Update!
Barcelona Announces Return to the Nou Camp Before Renovation Completion
Barcelona will resettle at their historic stadium ahead of the 2025-26 season, although only parts of the renovated grounds will be ready for use.
The club’s return is scheduled for August 10, during the Joan Gamper Trophy match, marking the end of ongoing construction work on the £1.25 billion refurbishment project.
Since 2023, Barcelona has been based at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys. Originally, the club planned to move back to the Nou Camp by their 125th anniversary on November 29, 2024. However, progress was delayed repeatedly due to slow construction, pushing back the homecoming.
In a recent statement, the club confirmed their return but also announced that work will still be ongoing in several stadium areas. These include finishing the new third tier, installing a dual VIP ring and roof, and adding final touches to the interior and surrounding areas.
When the renovations are fully complete, the Nou Camp will become the largest sports venue in Europe, accommodating approximately 105,000 spectators. Notably, the project aims to make the stadium energy-efficient, with 18,000 square meters of solar panels powering its operations and producing zero carbon emissions.
