Why Man United Can’t Sell Their Title-Winning Star — Despite the Win, He’s Still Overlooked!
Manchester United Faces Challenges in Selling Fringe Player Despite Recent Title Win
Manchester United is encountering difficulties in finding buyers for one of their peripheral players, despite the club’s recent triumph in winning the league title.
The team has signaled an intention to offload several squad members this summer to raise funds for new signings. Among the potential departures is a player who secured a league championship during a loan spell last season.
United’s management has been active in the transfer market, bringing in Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton for £62.5 million and making a bid of over £60 million for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. However, after missing out on Champions League qualification for the third consecutive year, the club’s financial resources are limited, making player sales essential.
One notable player on the transfer list is Tyrell Malacia, who only played three matches last season due to severe injury problems. After knee surgery, he was loaned out to PSV in January, where he contributed to their remarkable Eredivisie title win, ending Ajax’s 12-point lead.
Manchester United are reportedly struggling to find suitors for Tyrell Malacia
Signed from Feyenoord in 2022 for £14.6m, Malacia’s career has been hampered by injuries, including an 18-month layoff after a meniscus tear and multiple surgeries. His prolonged absence led to wild speculation, including conspiracy theories, though the club now reports no serious interest from other teams, and they are eager to sell him.
In addition to Malacia, United aims to sell other stars such as Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony. While Sancho might return to Borussia Dortmund, getting the desired fee could prove challenging. Rashford, who performed well early last season, is also on the market, with a loan with an option to buy considered more likely, at a price around £40 million.

Meanwhile, Antony has performed well on loan at Real Betis but is unlikely to be bought permanently due to Betis’s financial constraints. United is open to loan deals with a buy option, potentially lowering their asking price. Conversely, concerns about Garnacho’s character have emerged, especially following a social media controversy involving a holiday shirt.
