ICE Agents Catch Violent Fugitive Suspected of Killing Mexican Police Officer in Connecticut!
Illicit Immigrant with Fugitive Status Apprehended in Connecticut
Immigration authorities have detained a dangerous illegal migrant hiding within Connecticut, wanted for the murder of a police officer in Mexico. The individual, Orlando Diaz-Cebada, is affiliated with the Los Pochos gang, which is linked to drug trafficking for the Sinaloa Cartel.
Diaz-Cebada had been deported from the United States twice after crossing the border unlawfully. Despite these deportations, he illegally re-entered the country a third time by sneaking past federal agents, illustrating persistent attempts to evade law enforcement.
The Department of Homeland Security announced that the Mexican gang member was wanted for a murder committed against a Mexican police officer. An arrest warrant was issued in Mexico on April 23, 2024, for his involvement in beating a government official to death.
“Thanks to our dedicated ICE agents and federal partners, this violent fugitive wanted for murder is no longer at large in America. Such heinous criminals threaten public safety, and we will continue to pursue them relentlessly,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
Diaz-Cebada, who had been deported from the U.S. on May 22, 2024, returned illegally two days later and was deported once more. However, his repeated crossings highlight ongoing border security challenges.
He remains in ICE custody, facing imminent deportation for the third time. Authorities emphasized their commitment to removing violent criminals from U.S. borders to ensure public safety.
