Wrexham Legend Paul Mullin’s Surprise 14-Word Message After S:ho:ck League One Loan Signup!
Paul Mullin Joins Wigan Athletic on Season-Long Loan
Wrexham’s forward Paul Mullin has agreed to join Wigan Athletic on a temporary transfer for the upcoming season. Mullin, 30, who played a vital role in helping Wrexham achieve consecutive promotions since joining in 2021, fell out of favor at the club last season.
Despite Wrexham earning promotion again after finishing second in League One, Mullin only managed to score three goals in 26 appearances. His involvement diminished after January due to a reported dispute with manager Phil Parkinson, especially following the January signings of Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.
Following the announcement of his move, Mullin posted a heartfelt message on social media, expressing his best wishes to Wrexham and encouraging the team to keep their upward momentum. An image accompanying the message showed a jersey commemorating his 100th goal for the club, with the caption: “All the very best to everyone at Wrexham this season — keep the train rolling.”
Wrexham striker Paul Mullin has agreed to join Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan after falling out of favor.
There were reports of disagreements between Mullin and manager Phil Parkinson earlier this season.
Mullin took to social media to encourage the team to continue their rise up the English football league system.
In announcing the transfer, Parkinson wished Mullin well, stating it was an excellent opportunity for him to regain regular first-team football and predicting he would be a valuable addition for Wigan Athletic.
Mullin scored 110 goals in 172 appearances for Wrexham and was the club’s top scorer and Player of the Season in his first three seasons. His departure follows the signing of Plymouth Argyle’s Ryan Hardie, which has further influenced his future at the club.
