Shocking! Oregon Police Pursue Dangerous Suspect “Loony Toon” in Hair-Raising High-Speed Chase!
Police Chase Ends with Suspect Fleeing on Foot in Portland
Early Friday morning, police in Oregon pursued a suspect through Portland and nearby Milwaukie after he led officers on a high-speed chase.
The individual, later identified as 42-year-old John Franklin Toon, was observed weaving his SUV across lanes on SE Highway 224 around 2:45 a.m. Upon being stopped by the police, authorities discovered he had an active felony warrant. A spike strip was deployed to stop his vehicle, but Toon managed to reverse, collide with a police car, run over the spike strips, and accelerate at speeds reaching up to 80 mph while firing shots from his vehicle. Fortunately, no officers or police vehicles were hit.
His SUV eventually became disabled. Toon exited the vehicle and ran on foot onto a nearby golf course, with law enforcement close behind. A female passenger remained inside the vehicle during the pursuit. The authorities, including the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), established a perimeter around the area and launched a foot chase.
A lockdown order issued for residents in the Eastmoreland neighborhood was lifted around 8:30 a.m. as officers searched the golf course for Toon. Law enforcement continues to seek information about his whereabouts, urging anyone with tips to contact police at 503-786-7425.
