US Claims Success in Striking Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

The United States has conducted a targeted military operation against key Iranian nuclear sites, aiming to disable Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities. The assault, known as “Operation Midnight Hammer,” involved dropping over a dozen high-precision bunker buster bombs on three strategic locations: Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.

Defense officials confirmed that the attack caused extensive destruction, with initial assessments indicating all three sites sustained severe damage. Military leaders highlighted that the operation was a focused effort to eliminate Iran’s nuclear threat without escalation into broader conflict.

During a press briefing, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth emphasized the strength of American deterrence, stating, “The operation was bold and brilliant, reaffirming that U.S. military power backs our resolve.” Hegseth added that the mission, the longest since post-9/11, was executed without Iranian response, suggesting surprise was maintained throughout.

Officials also clarified that the operation was not intended to pursue regime change but rather to neutralize Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. “This was about protecting national interests and allies, particularly Israel,” Hegseth explained.

In response to the strike, Iran’s parliament voted to close the crucial Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route that facilitates about 20% of the world’s oil supply, risking a significant disruption to global oil shipments. Meanwhile, protests erupted across Tehran, with crowds chanting against the U.S. and displaying images of the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.

Russia and China condemned the military action, warning of “dangerous escalation” and cautioning that more nations might supply Iran with nuclear arms. Additionally, the Department of Homeland Security issued a terrorism alert, warning of potential Iranian retaliatory attacks on U.S. targets.

The U.S. utilized advanced weapons, including the newly used GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs, to achieve strategic objectives. President Trump reaffirmed his stance on Iran, hinting at the possibility of regime change if the regime fails to pursue peaceful negotiations, and warned Iran that retaliation would face overwhelming force.
