Tragic Stadium Disaster in Algeria Leaves Three Dead and Over 70 Injured

Farmers at a stadium in Algeria experienced a deadly incident during celebrations following MC Alger’s latest league victory, resulting in three fatalities and more than 70 injuries. The collapse occurred when a section of a barrier in the upper stands failed, causing fans to tumble into lower tiers amid the jubilant atmosphere.

Shortly after MC Alger clinched their second consecutive top-tier title, a part of the structure gave way, leading to the fall of numerous supporters. The local health authorities reported that hospitals received multiple casualties, with 38 injured at Beni Messous University Hospital, 27 at Ben Aknoun Hospital, and 16 at Bab El Oued Hospital.

In response to the tragedy, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune extended his condolences to the victims’ families and wished a swift recovery for the injured. MC Alger’s club also confirmed the death of one of their supporters, Younes Amguzzi, on their Instagram page, expressing their sorrow over the loss.
