Prince Harry Saddened by Meghan Markle’s Paris Backlash
Prince Harry Relieved and Disheartened by Criticism of Meghan Markle
Prince Harry is reportedly feeling distressed over the recent backlash towards Meghan Markle following her visit to Paris. The Duchess of Sussex shared a video lounging in a limousine near the site of Princess Diana’s tragic death, which has since been criticized as insensitive and thoughtless.
Royal analyst Richard Fitzwilliams criticized the social media post as “utterly bewildering” and “beyond stupid,” emphasizing its insensitivity given the historical significance of the location.
The Duchess, aged 44, was reportedly unaware of the location of the vehicle in her video. A close friend revealed that Harry was deeply hurt by the criticism, which seemingly used Princess Diana’s death as a means to attack Meghan. Despite the controversy, Meghan did not come close to the crash tunnel herself.
In a reflection of the ongoing media scrutiny, Harry was described as “despondent but not surprised” by the constant negative coverage aimed at his wife. He and Meghan recently appeared in New York as Humanitarians of the Year, emphasizing the dangers of social media, especially for children.
Meghan also faced criticism for giggling during a fashion show in Paris, though a spokesperson for the couple hasn’t issued a comment. Meghan has spoken openly about the intense scrutiny she has endured, including her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where she revealed that the pressure left her feeling suicidal.
Last week, the couple reunited in New York to accept an award, where Meghan commented on the importance of protecting children in the digital age. She acknowledged that while social media offers benefits, it also presents significant risks that are becoming increasingly difficult to manage for parents.
