Joe Biden, 82, Battles Aggressive Cancer with Radiation & Hormone Therapy
President Joe Biden Undergoing Treatment for Prostate Cancer
President Joe Biden is currently receiving treatment for prostate cancer, including radiation therapy and hormone medication. His spokesperson confirmed that the radiation sessions will continue for five weeks, marking a new phase in his care, and noted he has been taking hormone pills.
Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive prostate cancer in May, characterized by a high Gleason score and with metastasis to his bones, indicating the cancer had spread. Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, reports indicate he is managing well.
The President was initially detected after experiencing urinary symptoms and found to have a prostate nodule. His team described the disease as hormone-sensitive, which means it can be effectively managed with treatment. Biden also underwent surgery last month to remove cancerous cells from his skin.
He publicly expressed his outlook on social media, saying, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
His previous cancer battle includes the loss of his son Beau Biden to brain cancer in 2015, highlighting his personal experience with the disease. Despite the diagnosis, Biden remains active and continues his duties while undergoing treatment.
