Mark Benioff Supports Trump Sending National Guard to San Francisco
Salesforce CEO Calls for National Guard Deployment in San Francisco
Marc Benioff, a leading figure in the tech industry and CEO of Salesforce, has publicly advocated for the deployment of the National Guard to San Francisco. Speaking during an interview, he expressed his full support for the idea, citing concerns over a shortage of police officers in the city. Benioff, a native of San Francisco, suggested that additional law enforcement presence is necessary ahead of the upcoming Dreamforce conference.
He noted that he currently funds off-duty officers to patrol during the event and believes the city should significantly increase its police force. “When you walk through San Francisco next week, you’ll see police on every corner—that’s how it used to be,” he remarked.
During an hour-long discussion, Benioff also praised President Trump, declaring, “I fully support the president. I think he’s doing a great job.” He recounted meeting Trump at a state dinner hosted by King Charles, where he expressed gratitude for the President’s efforts.
Benioff emphasized his commitment to the city through his philanthropy, claiming to have donated over $1 billion and supporting local initiatives. Despite his efforts, some city officials have criticized his call for military aid, viewing it as out of touch with residents’ needs.
San Francisco Supervisor Myrna Melgar expressed surprise at Benioff’s request, calling it “out of step” with what most residents want. Meanwhile, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins criticized the comments sharply on social media, asserting that law enforcement in the city needs to uphold safety and accountability without resorting to heavy-handed tactics.
President Trump has previously ordered the National Guard to several cities, including Los Angeles and Chicago, to assist with law enforcement efforts during operations such as “Operation Midway Blitz.”
