Taylor Swift Reveals How Travis Kelce’s Nervousness Unintentionally Spoiled His Proposal
Taylor Swift Reveals Details of Travis Kelce’s Surprise Proposal
Taylor Swift recently shared how she almost spoiled her own engagement to Travis Kelce, recounting the special moment during a visit to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
She explained that she had a suspicion Travis was about to propose when she noticed his unusual nervousness after filming a podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce. The couple had used blackout curtains around the house, which Swift thought was a sign of his desire for privacy, but she later realized it was because he was planning the proposal.
According to Swift, Travis was visibly anxious, saying, “My heart’s just racing,” which was unlike him, as he’s usually very composed. After filming the podcast, Travis suggested they take a walk in the backyard to enjoy some wine, and it was at that moment she understood what was about to happen.
Travis proposed with an vintage mine-cut sparkling ring, crafted by jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine. The couple announced their engagement in late August after dating for two years.
Swift reflected on how Travis’s behavior tipped her off to the surprise, saying she noticed his nervousness and thought, “Because we’d been talking about doing the podcast and announcing the album, and he’s like, ‘My heart’s just racing.’ I’ve never seen this guy nervous. Ever.”
After the proposal, Travis asked Swift to walk around the backyard and enjoy some wine, solidifying the moment. The singer called the situation “the best possible-case scenario,” noting how Travis had prepared by installing blackout curtains all over their home to keep the moment private.
She dismissed rumors that she mentioned her own engagement during a wedding speech or that she rejected a Super Bowl offer due to footage restrictions. Swift also shared that Ed Sheeran learned of her engagement through social media, as he doesn’t own a phone.
