Shocking High-Speed Chase! Oregon Cops Hunt the Mysterious Suspect “Loony Toon”

High-Speed Chase and Shooting Incident in Portland Area

Early Friday morning, police in Oregon pursued a suspect through Portland and nearby Milwaukie after he led officers on a dangerous chase. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old John Franklin Toon, was seen weaving his SUV between lanes on SE Highway 224 around 2:45 a.m.

Officers discovered Toon had an active felony warrant when they attempted to pull him over. To prevent his escape, police deployed spike strips under his vehicle’s rear tires. However, Toon reversed his SUV aggressively, colliding with a police car and running over the spike strips at speeds reaching up to 80 mph.

During the escape, Toon fired several shots from his vehicle, though no injuries or damage to officers were reported. The chase came to an end when his vehicle, damaged and with flat tires, finally stopped. Toon then abandoned his SUV and fled on foot onto a nearby golf course, leaving a female passenger behind.
