Spurs Provide Takeover Update Amid Interest from Former DJ
Spurs Report No Sale Following Interest from Interested Parties
Tottenham’s owners, the Lewis family, have dismissed recent takeover interests following the departure of former chairman Daniel Levy.
In September, shortly after Levy’s exit after over two decades, two groups showed interest in purchasing the club. Later that month, a third group led by ex-DJ Brooklyn Earick also expressed enthusiasm about acquiring Spurs.
All three groups have confirmed with the London Stock Exchange that they will not proceed further, satisfied that the Lewis family has no intention of selling the club.
Earick’s US-based consortium attracted significant speculation, with reports suggesting a bid of around £4.5 billion, including a substantial investment in the squad. However, questions about the seriousness of this bid arose due to its high valuation and Earick’s previous failed attempt to buy the Maserati Formula E team earlier this year.
One of the interested groups, PCP International Finance Limited—a Saudi-backed group led by Amanda Staveley—declared they would not pursue further action. The other, a Chinese consortium led by Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng via Firehawk Holdings, was given until October 5 to declare a firm bid, but both subsequently withdrew their interest.
Since Levy’s departure, the club’s ownership, led by Joe Lewis’s family through ENIC since 2000, has repeatedly stated their intention to retain control. The family members, including Joe Lewis’s children Vivienne and Charles, along with Vivienne’s husband Nick Beucher, are looking to take a more active role in the club’s future.
Peter Charrington has been appointed as the new non-executive chairman, replacing Levy.
