Shocking Courtroom Twist in Hamptons Hit-and-Run Case! Woman Faces Justice for Sara Burack’s Death
Virginia Woman Arrested in Hamptons Hit-and-Run That Killed Real Estate Agent
A woman from Virginia has been taken into custody following a fatal hit-and-run incident involving a prominent real estate agent in the Hamptons. Amanda Kempton, a marine biologist, appeared in court and pleaded not guilty. She was released after her family posted $100,000 bail.
Prosecutors described Kempton as a flight risk, noting she fled the scene after the accident. She was set to attend a wedding back in Virginia on the day of her arrest. Court proceedings revealed she had been at a tavern earlier that day before the incident.
The accident occurred on a foggy evening when Kempton struck Sara Burack, a 40-year-old high-end property specialist and star of the Netflix series “Million Dollar Beach House.” Burack was walking along Montauk Highway, pulling a large pink suitcase, when she was hit. Burack was walking on the side of the road and was struck in the westbound lane.
According to her lawyer, William Keahon, Kempton did not see Burack due to the fog and believed she had hit a traffic cone. Kempton left the scene but later discovered Burack’s suitcase lodged under her vehicle at a friend’s home. Authorities traced her vehicle using license plate data and found it with damage to the front end parked at her family’s residence.
She faces up to seven years in prison on a felony charge of leaving the scene of a deadly accident. Kempton, who grew up in Virginia and holds degrees in microbiology and marine biology, is currently working at a summer camp in Georgia. She previously worked at a museum on Long Island.
