Lukaku Involved in Fiery Children’s Football Match Row After Admitting He’s a ‘Hothead’

Romelu Lukaku Shares Incident at Son’s Football Match

Romelu Lukaku recently opened up about an incident that occurred during his son’s under-seven’s football match, where he had a clash with another parent, prompting stewards to intervene.

The Napoli striker is a father to six-year-old Romeo Emmanuel and three-year-old Jordan. His eldest son has previously played in the youth divisions of his former club, Anderlecht.

Due to his commitments in Serie A with Napoli, Lukaku has had limited chances to watch his son play in Belgium. However, after suffering a hamstring injury during a pre-season game against Olympiacos, his schedule has become more flexible.

In a podcast, Lukaku recounted the incident, which took place during a tournament at Standard Liege’s academy. He was recognized by a parent for a brief photo, but tensions escalated when another parent made a disparaging comment about his private life.

Romelu Lukaku was involved in a heated exchange with another parent during the match.

Lukaku described how he was asked for a photo while chatting with an old acquaintance, Beni Badibanga, a former Standard Liege player. After politely declining due to the conversation, and then posing for the photo, a parent made a rude remark as he left.

“If you don’t want to take a picture with everyone, you should have stayed home,” the parent allegedly said, prompting Lukaku to confront him physically. Lukaku expressed frustration, saying he rarely gets to see his son play and was upset by the comment.

Footage of the altercation has since surfaced, with an anonymous witness confirming Lukaku’s account of rushing toward the other parent during a heated exchange. Stewards also stepped in to diffuse the situation.

This incident comes shortly after the passing of Lukaku’s father, Roger, at age 58. The striker shared heartfelt condolences on social media, expressing gratitude for his father’s guidance and acknowledging that life would never be the same without him.
