Danica Patrick Says Bad Bunny Shouldn’t Headline Super Bowl 2026 Halftime

Bad Bunny to Headline 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Musician Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has been announced as the headliner for the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show scheduled for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The Puerto Rican artist shared the news via a video on social media, sitting atop a goalpost in a football end zone, captioned: “Super Bowl LX. Bay Area. February 2026. #AppleMusicHalftime.”

In a subsequent press conference, Bad Bunny expressed that his participation is a tribute to those who paved the way for him. “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history,” he said.

Throughout his career, Bad Bunny has frequently spoken out against policies he deems unjust, like criticizing the Trump administration and the cruelty of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Last Independence Day, he released a music video for his song “NUEVAYoL,” featuring an artificial Trump voice apologizing for his immigration stance.

The artist’s selection sparked controversy among some right-wing commentators. Jack Posobiec, for example, blamed Jay-Z—whose company Roc Nation produces the Super Bowl halftime show—for the choice, citing political motives. Conversely, the decision received support from many celebrities, including the ladies of “The View” and Jennifer Lopez, who in 2020 previously invited Bad Bunny to perform during her halftime show and tweeted, “Now it’s your turn !!!!! bori gang lets gooooo.”

Additionally, Bad Bunny has actively supported political figures like Vice President Kamala Harris and has publicly criticized the Trump administration’s policies. His outspoken stance on social issues, combined with his rising popularity, makes his upcoming performance a highly anticipated event.
