Florida Nurse Sentenced for Sexual Assault of Stepson, Separates from Husband

A nurse from Florida, Alexis Von Yates, has been convicted and sentenced following her sexual assault of her 15-year-old stepson. Since the incident in July 2024, she has separated from her husband, Frank Yates.

Yates, 35, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of lewd and Lascivious battery on a child, avoiding a sexual battery conviction. She received a two-year prison sentence and is required to register as a sex offender for ten years. After serving her time, she must complete 200 hours of community service.

The sexual assault occurred while her two young children were asleep. The teen reported that Yates cornered him, kissed his neck, and sexually assaulted him. When her husband caught her in the act, she claimed she was trying to stop, but the teen testified that he was frightened Yates would lash out with a belt. The boy was taken to his grandparents’ house for safety, where he was discouraged from reporting the crime.

Yates had spent the preceding week joking about watching “step-mom pornos” and discussing her increasing sexual desire. The victim confirmed that she assaulted him after cornering him and that she later tried to tell her husband she had told the boy to stop during the incident.

It wasn’t until October 2024 that Yates tipped off authorities anonymously, leading to her arrest. During her sentencing, her biological mother expressed anger and hurt over the trauma inflicted on her son, stating she would rise above the ordeal despite her pain.

Yates and her husband, married since 2017, share two children but are now living separately due to her actions. The case highlights the devastating impact of abuse within families and the importance of accountability and legal action.
