Quentin Grimes Signs 1-Year, $8.7M Deal to Return to 76ers

Quentin Grimes Rejoins the Philadelphia 76ers on a One-Year Deal

After an impressive period with the 76ers during the second half of the 2024-25 season, Quentin Grimes has signed a one-year contract to stay with the team for $8.7 million.

During his stint with the Sixers, Grimes showcased his scoring ability, averaging 21.9 points, along with 5.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals over 28 games, including 25 starts. The Sixers acquired him before the trade deadline from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for forward Caleb Martin and a 2025 second-round pick, aiming to bolster their injury-depleted roster.

Previously, Grimes played 47 games for the Mavericks, averaging 10.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, with his best season shooting nearly 40% from beyond the arc. With the Sixers, he maintained a solid three-point shooting percentage of 37.3%, making 82 threes.

Significant Contributions

Grimes proved to be more than just a sharpshooter, especially in extended play. He consistently scored over 20 points in 23 games this season, with five games surpassing 30 points, including two 40-point performances. Notably, he scored 44 points in a win over the Golden State Warriors and set a personal best with 46 points and 13 rebounds in an overtime game against the Houston Rockets.

Career Path

Drafted 25th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2021, Grimes was immediately traded to the New York Knicks. He spent parts of two seasons with the Knicks before being traded to the Detroit Pistons in February 2024. Limited by knee soreness, he played only six games for Detroit last season.

In 2024-25, Grimes balanced stints with both the Mavericks and Sixers, ultimately earning better recognition and a promising contract extension, emphasizing his rising profile in the NBA.
