Fatal Shooting During Juneteenth Celebration in South Carolina

A tragic shooting occurred during a Juneteenth celebration at a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post in South Carolina, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.

Law enforcement responded swiftly to the incident at the VFW 1790 facility near Greenville, where gunfire erupted late Saturday night, just before 11 p.m. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the shooting took place during the event organized to commemorate Juneteenth.

The only confirmed fatality was declared dead at Greenville Memorial Hospital. In addition, eight other individuals were rushed to local hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident.

The sheriff’s office has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but details about the victims and the motive remain undisclosed at this time.
