High School Soccer Player Attacks Photographer in Postgame Brawl

High School Soccer Player Accused of Assaulting Photographer During Post-Game Brawl

A prominent high school soccer player from one of the top teams in the country has been accused of attacking a photographer after a chaotic Saturday night incident in Jersey City, New Jersey.

The altercation occurred after a match between St. Benedict’s and St. Peter’s Prep ended in a 1-1 draw. As players shook hands, a fight broke out between the teams. During the chaos, St. Benedict’s star forward Amadou Hann ran from the back of the line toward St. Peter’s players, footage shows. At one point, he noticed a photographer working for NJ Advance Media and approached him aggressively.

Witnesses report that Hann demanded the photographer delete images of the brawl. When the photographer, Tom Horak, refused, Hann allegedly grabbed him by the throat, resulting in abrasions around Horak’s neck, which were verified by reports. Another video shows Hann chasing Horak’s camera and being restrained by teammates afterward.

Police were not alerted, as Horak declined medical attention and did not wish to press charges. The athletic director of St. Peter’s Prep described the incident as “high school nonsense,” noting that the brief scuffle did not warrant police involvement.

Amadou Hann, who is 6-foot-2, previously scored 16 goals and assisted 11 times last season, leading St. Benedict’s to a perfect 20-0 season and ranking them as the top team nationwide. He scored the equalizer in the recent game, helping his team avoid just their second loss since 2023.

St. Benedict’s is renowned for producing football legends like Tab Ramos, Gregg Berhalter, and Claudio Reyna. The school remains a leading institution in American soccer development.
