Everton icon Duncan Ferguson issued an apology following a humorous incident on Monday Night Football, where he playfully grabbed Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones, leaving commentator Jamie Carragher visibly surprised.

Ferguson, appearing as a guest to analyze Everton’s recent match against West Ham, demonstrated his coaching insights using Jones as a prop. He recounted working with West Ham’s new manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, during coaching badge studies in Scotland, praising Nuno’s meticulous defensive organization.

He explained how Nuno was particularly detailed and hands-on in coaching, illustrating this with a demo where he moved Jones physically to show positioning instructions. Ferguson said, “He was that picky on detail, when coaching, he’d move you around,” then mimicked Nuno by firmly guiding Jones into position, prompting surprise.

Jamie Carragher asked Ferguson if he experienced the same tough treatment, to which Ferguson confirmed, “Even me. He got told off for it, but he’d say, ‘Get yourself there, move a yard,’ and manhandled everyone.” Ferguson noted Nuno’s strong defensive focus and tactical approach, emphasizing his skills as a defensive coach.
