Runway Incident Leads to Emergency Brake Application on Flight from LAX

An American Airlines flight had to abruptly halt its takeoff at Los Angeles International Airport after a cargo aircraft entered the runway illegally.

Flight 2453, scheduled to fly from Los Angeles to Boston, was preparing for departure when crew members observed another aircraft crossing the runway without permission. The crew responded immediately, halting the takeoff as the plane was traveling at approximately 154 miles per hour.

The cargo plane involved, Aerologic Flight 619, was crossing the runway unlawfully, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed. Authorities quickly instructed the American flight to stop, preventing a potential collision. At one point, the two planes were only about 5,200 feet apart.
