Illinois Driver Attacks Police Cruiser During Traffic Stop

Man Prisoner Drives Car Into Police SUV During Traffic Stop, Claims He Did It Out of Boredom

During a traffic stop in Illinois, a man intentionally crashed his vehicle into a police SUV, then admitted to officers he did it because he was “bored” and “hates cops.” The incident was captured on body camera footage.

As a Fairview Heights officer approached the vehicle, Keajion L. Jennings, 28, sped his gray 2018 Chevrolet Camaro into the back of the patrol car, narrowly missing the officer and nearly pinning him between the vehicles. Jennings then exited his car and asked, “What happened?”

When the officer responded, Jennings said he needed a new car and appeared to acknowledge his deliberate action. He then stated he did it because he was bored. The officer instructed Jennings to sit on the sidewalk and wait for an ambulance, as Jennings struggled to stand multiple times but complied after being told to stay seated.

Jennings admitted to being under the influence, saying he had been drinking and taking weed pills. He handed over his ID and confessed that he intentionally hit the squad car, stating, “I did that on purpose.” He further explained that his motive was boredom and expressed animosity towards law enforcement, saying, “I hate cops.”

Following this, Jennings was placed under arrest and handcuffed. He is currently held at St. Clair County Jail. The individuals in the vehicle initially pulled over received only a warning for expired tags and were unharmed. No injuries were reported at the scene.

The damage to the squad car is estimated at over $10,000. Jennings faces multiple charges, including Criminal Damage to Government Property, two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, and one count of Aggravated Battery with a Motor Vehicle. The local authorities indicated he is considered a significant danger to the community, prompting efforts to keep him detained before trial. The Illinois State Police are leading the investigation into the incident.
