Jurassic Giants for Sale as New Jersey Dinosaur Park Nearing Closure
A dinosaur park in Leonia, New Jersey, has put over two dozen of its full-scale animatronic dinosaurs—including a towering Tyrannosaurus Rex—up for sale on Facebook Marketplace, as it prepares to close after 14 years of operation.
Owner Guy Gsell reported receiving numerous inquiries nationwide from interested buyers, including museums, zoos, and private collectors eager to acquire these impressive displays. The park’s dinosaurs, which include unique creatures like a Spinosaurus and a juvenile Triceratops, are listed at prices ranging from $500 to $3,500 based on condition and size. For example, the 39-foot T. Rex is priced at $2,700, while a 16-foot rubber Triceratops is listed at $1,668.
The most costly listing is for a 75-foot-tall Apatosaurus, valued at $2,860. Buyers are responsible for all removal and shipping costs, and purchases are only available after the park officially closes its doors at the end of the 2025 season on November 9.
Despite the closure, Gsell emphasized that the business will continue to host community events. The park’s manager expressed that interest in the dinosaurs has been overwhelming, with calls flooding in shortly after listings went live. The high demand even caused her to stop responding to inquiries temporarily.
Beyond sales, Gsell said the park intends to maintain its community presence through events, celebrating its legacy of educational shows, fossil digs, and family entertainment. The park previously drew over one million visitors, creating memorable experiences for young guests from across the region.
