Meghan McCain Clashes with Violet Affleck Over Mask Mandate

Meghan McCain Criticizes Violet Affleck’s UN Mask Proposal

Meghan McCain has publicly dismissed Violet Affleck’s recent call for universal post-pandemic mask mandates, calling her suggestion “patently absurd.” Violet, the 19-year-old daughter of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, expressed support for mask requirements during her speech at the United Nations, while also wearing a mask herself earlier that day. This drew criticism from McCain, who shared a now-deleted post condemning the activist and referring to her as a “nepo baby,” highlighting her famous parents.

McCain expressed her disdain sharply, stating, “She has no business speaking at the UN and what she is speaking about is patently absurd,” before removing the post. She reiterated her criticism in subsequent posts, claiming that such behavior exemplifies why “everyone hates nepo babies.”

In a lengthy response, McCain challenged those who accused her of hypocrisy for being the daughter of Senator John McCain, a “nepo baby” herself. She argued that her parents would not have approved of her addressing the UN on health issues without background or experience. She emphasized that her own fame comes with responsibilities and that advocating for children to wear masks constantly is “insane,” asserting her right to choose her lifestyle.

Violet, known for frequently wearing face coverings in public, has been an advocate for mask mandates, citing her own health struggles after contracting a post-viral condition in 2019. She has argued that masks and better air infrastructure are essential for community safety and participation. McCain, on the other hand, has been openly critical of Covid-19 restrictions, even calling masks “stupid” during a 2021 appearance on “The View” and condemning continued mask-wearing as unnecessary.

Despite her critical comments, McCain acknowledged the double standards and pointed out that her own outspoken stance on Covid policies illustrates her own issues with the controversy surrounding her youth and fame.
