Democrats Aim to Block Trump’s Corruption by Targeting His Minions
Supreme Court Grants Immunity to Trump for Official Acts During Presidency
Thanks to the conservative majority on the Supreme Court, former President Donald Trump is protected by immunity for actions taken while in office. However, this immunity does not apply to members of his administration.
With the current Republican-controlled House and Senate failing to adequately perform oversight, the responsibility for scrutinizing the Executive Branch may shift to Democrats if they regain control of the House in 2026.
Concerns Over Prosecutorial Conduct
Representative Eric Swalwell, a member of the House Oversight Committee, criticized ongoing prosecutions involving Trump, describing them as potentially corrupt. On CNN, he emphasized that Trump exerts significant influence over legal actions, citing instances where Trump reportedly directed the Attorney General and criticized former officials like James Comey.
Swalwell warned prosecutors within the Department of Justice that oversight will intensify when Democrats are in the majority, and any unjust or unprovable charges could threaten prosecutors’ careers and licenses once Democrats regain power.
Growing Support for Impeachment
There is increasing public interest in impeaching Trump, though experts suggest that the more significant issues lie elsewhere, which will be discussed in subsequent analyses.
