SpaceX Launches New Batch of Starlink Satellites from Florida

Today, SpaceX successfully launched 28 Starlink internet satellites into orbit using a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The launch occurred at 4:39 a.m. EDT, with the Falcon 9’s first stage returning to Earth about 8.5 minutes later, landing on the drone ship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” in the Atlantic Ocean.

This particular Falcon 9 booster, designated B1080, completed its 22nd flight during this mission.

Following launch, the upper stage of the rocket continued to propel the satellites toward low Earth orbit, where they were deployed 64 minutes after liftoff.

SpaceX has now completed 122 Falcon 9 missions in 2025, with over 70% dedicated to expanding the Starlink satellite network.

Currently, the Starlink constellation is the largest ever assembled, with more than 8,400 active satellites, according to astrophysicist and satellite tracker Jonathan McDowell.
