Ayo Edebiri Goes Viral for Epic Response to Cringeworthy Julia Roberts & Andrew Garfield Interview

Ayo Edebiri Responds to Exclusion from Question on Hollywood’s Post-#MeToo Era

A viral clip features actress Ayo Edebiri expressing her surprise after being unintentionally excluded from a question during a recent interview with co-stars Andrew Garfield and Julia Roberts.

The actors discussed their upcoming film, “After the Hunt,” in an interview with an Italian outlet, when journalist Federica Polidoro asked Garfield and Roberts about the future of Hollywood after the #MeToo and Black Lives Matter movements. She inquired, “What should we expect in Hollywood once #MeToo and BLM are over?”

Both Garfield and Roberts appeared taken aback; Garfield shifted uncomfortably and laughed, while Roberts questioned the journalist, “Can you repeat that? With your sunglasses on, I can’t tell which of us you’re addressing.”

Polidoro persisted, clarifying, “The question was for Julia and Andrew. Now that those movements are concluded, what can we anticipate in Hollywood? And have we lost something during this politically correct era?”

Despite the question being directed at her co-stars, Edebiri, who was visibly shocked, answered thoughtfully. She remarked, “I recognize that this isn’t for me, and I’m not sure if it’s purposeful, but I’m curious. I don’t think the work is finished.”

She elaborated, saying, “While hashtags might not be as prominent, activism is ongoing, and countless individuals are still doing vital, active work. The world remains highly charged, and this work is far from over.”

Garfield and Roberts nodded in agreement as Edebiri continued, emphasizing that societal efforts continue beyond media headlines: “The work by activists continues daily, and that work is very much still in progress.”

Following the incident, Polidoro faced significant backlash online for excluding Edebiri from the discussion. She later issued a statement defending her reporting, clarifying that all contributions had been included without omission and that her focus was on the discussion, not the phrasing of her questions.

“After the Hunt,” directed by Luca Guadagnino, features Roberts as a college professor entangled in a complex case involving allegations of sexual misconduct, with Edebiri playing a student who accuses Garfield’s character. The film is scheduled for release on October 10.
