Onana Signs Deal to Double Pay at Man United Before Loan Move
Andre Onana Signs Contract to Double His Salary as He Heads on Loan from Manchester United
Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to join Trabzonspor on a season-long loan after both clubs finalized the paperwork. The move comes after a period of uncertainty regarding Onana’s future at Manchester United.
The deal reportedly includes a significant pay increase for Onana, largely due to signing bonuses and other incentives. Manchester United will not receive a loan fee, and there is no option for the Turkish club to buy him permanently at the end of the loan period in June.
According to reports, all necessary documentation has been signed, with Onana having approved the move. The 29-year-old is expected to travel to Turkey shortly, following his participation with Cameroon in the international break.
Onana’s exit was expedited by Manchester United’s recent signing of goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Antwerp for £21.7 million. He had been in competition with Lammens and others for the No. 1 spot but faced challenges with consistency and a string of high-profile errors since joining United from Inter Milan for £47.2 million two years ago.
While initially expected to stay, Onana was informed he could seek a move if he wished, especially after United pursued other goalkeepers. His performance for Cameroon remains notable; he featured in last Thursday’s 3-0 victory over Eswatini and is expected to play in their upcoming match against Cape Verde, a crucial fixture for World Cup qualification.
His departure marks a new chapter in his career, with reports suggesting that Manchester United may now promote Lammens to their first-choice goalkeeper, supported by backups Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton.
Documents have reportedly been signed to confirm Andre Onana’s move to Trabzonspor
