Premier League Star in Neighborhood Dispute Over £2M Mansion After Man City Move
Premier League Player Involved in Dispute with Neighbors Over Construction at Mansion
A prominent Premier League footballer has become embroiled in a controversy with local residents following modifications at his £2 million home.
The player, who recently transferred to Manchester City, reportedly paved over a grass verge to create an on-street parking bay without obtaining the necessary planning permissions. He also removed large trees from the front of his property in Cobham, Surrey, triggering further objections.
Several local residents expressed concerns, describing the new concrete parking area as intrusive and warning that it threatens the area’s green landscape. The residents argue that replacing natural greenery with tarmac diminishes the estate’s character and sets a precedent for further development.
The player insists the parking bay is within his property boundaries and has submitted a retrospective planning application, though approval is not guaranteed. Critics contend that additional hardstanding is unnecessary, considering the property already has ample parking, as the whole front garden has been converted to a driveway.
Documents indicate the parking bay was constructed in February. His planning representative stated that the work was minimal and did not impact neighboring properties, claiming the homeowner was unaware a permit was needed for such modifications.
The mansion, bought for £1.5 million in 2023 and now valued at around £2 million, was expanded with new kitchen and bedroom extensions approved later. The footballer joined City this summer on a short-term deal after previously playing for Chelsea, where he had limited appearances.
